As I wandered amidst hundreds of tribesmen preparing to compete in their annual dance competitions held in the highlands on Papua New Guinea, I noticed a group of Simbu dancers applying black and white pigment to their bodies. Once they finished, I approached them without the aid of an interpreter. Using body language, I encouraged them to lineup in a manner that accentuated their graphic design. Fortunately, they obliged without hesitation.
