Quiver trees, members of the succulent aloe family, are particularly well adapted to surviving in the harsh conditions of Namibia’s southern desert. The plant stores water in its trunk and has spongy wood. Here, I used a small red flashlight to light detail on the otherwise silhouetted tree under a brilliantly starry canopy.
