Asian elephants (Elephas maximus), Nagarhole National Park, Karnataka, India<br />

I visited India for the first time in the late 1990s and, after photographing African elephants, I really didn’t know what to expect. Would they be comparatively meek? The answer came quickly as the large bull in this photograph charged our vehicle. I like this image for its soft quality of light as well as the interior forest that fives a sense of atmosphere.<br />
