Payachata Volcanoes, twin volcanoes each standing over twenty thousand feet high, dominate this Spartan landscape in the Chilean Andes. The high-altitude lake, tussock grass, and cracked mud provide an interesting foreground, as the natural sienna yellows of Lauca National Park are bathed in dreamy blue and pink light just after sunset.
